Contributions to SRCF Disaster Relief Fund Top $500,000!

Background Information In response to the Boles Fire in Weed, CA the Community Foundation established the Community Disaster Relief Fund. The fund was established with a gift from the Stewardship Endowment Fund. First and foremost, the fund will provide assistance to the families, nonprofits and organizations impacted by the Boles Fire in Weed.
The Community Foundation has a history of helping Siskiyou County nonprofits and organizations and will be able to deliver monetary assistance efficiently and effectively.
Funds have been distributed from the Community Disaster Relief Fund in the form of grants to local nonprofits and government agencies. Requests are reviewed and approved by staff of Shasta Regional Community Foundation, the Executive Committee of the Weed Long Term Recovery Group, and the Board of Shasta Regional Community Foundation. The following list reflects all distributions made to date as of 12/1/2014:
Grant distributions made because of a donor advised contribution – totaling $153,764.68
$40,000.00 Great Northern Services - recovery efforts at the recommendation of Pacific Power and Pacific Power Foundation
$19,950.00 Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center - additional case management personnel in the Weed location – at the recommendation of an anonymous donor
$18,214.68 Great Northern Services - grocery cards for fire survivors, utilizing case management at the recommendation of several donors
$45,000.00 Great Northern Services - replace food delivery vehicle - at the recommendation of an anonymous donor
$30,600.00 Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center- 36 computers for students identified through case management - at the recommendation of an anonymous donor
Grant distributions made at the recommendation of the Executive Committee of the Weed Long Term Recovery Group and Shasta Regional Community Foundation – totaling $46,696.94
$ 1,696.94 Free the Need – Thanksgiving turkeys for fire survivors, utilizing case management
$35,000.00 City of Weed – half the costs associated with lot resurveying
$10,000.00 Weed High School – counseling services for students
